Trying to move past it as fast as possible and avoid spending more time and energy fixing the problem might sound reasonable if it were a different property. It was a combination of the studio's earlier panicky, reactionary decisions, and their handling of these properties in a rush that treated this massive team-up property - this enormous potential anchor for the future of the entire shared DC Comics IP - like a bad piece of luggage to be hurriedly dropped by the roadside and left behind. So it wasn't just bad press and bad reviews that killed Justice League's box office and reputation. $656 million worldwide for the epic reveal of the DCEU's super-team - including their most popular and recognizable brands - is unacceptable in any version of reality. There's no way to downplay the significance of how poorly that film performed. Justice League was a case of the chickens finally coming home to roost. Nor should those segments of fandom who aggressively defend these films pretend Justice League's box office outcome and the overall situation in the DCEU is acceptable or untroubled.
